
Vanna White It will be missing from some of the new ones “wheel of fortune” episodes this fall.
The longtime co-host had to miss a day of a taping of the syndicated show due to his illness, a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly told USA TODAY. Bridget Donald Blue, who was chosen from among 2023 California Teachers of the Yearfilled in for White for five episodes.
The taping White missed was for the annual “Teacher’s Week” game show, and the production was unable to reschedule due to the schedules of the teachers involved as the school year began. Recording was rescheduled for the following day.
Teachers Week usually airs in mid-to-late September each year, but its 2023 dates have yet to be announced.
“Wheel of Fortune” is set to return for its 41st season this fall. In June, Ryan Seacrest was cast as new host after announced Pat Sajak that this would be his last season.
Sajak welcomed his replacement on X, formerly Twitter, and share it“I am looking forward to my final season starting this fall and then handing the car keys over to Ryan Seacrest in September of 2024.”
Sajak and White have hosted “Wheel of Fortune” in its current version since its debut in 1983, according to CBS Media Ventures, the series’ local distributor. Wyatt is still under contract to continue on “Will.” during the next year But he has not signed a new agreement yet.
CBS Media Ventures said in a statement in January that one of TV’s most-watched shows, “Wheel of Fortune” has been renewed for another five years, and ABC stations will continue to air the syndicated show through 2027-2028.
